Otti loses appeal

The Court of Appeal sitting in Owerri, yesterday struck out  the appeal  filed by the governorship candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in the last governorship election, Dr. Alex Otti.

All Progressives Congress, APC, yesterday, lost its bid to sack six members of the National Assembly from Rivers State, who were on March 28, elected on the  platform of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

NNPC begins monthly publication of financial report


 

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation,( NNPC) has commenced the monthly publication of its provisional financial and operational reports for public scrutiny, a statement from the NNPC says.

The statement signed by NNPC’s Group General Manger, Group Public Affairs Division Mr Ohi Alegbe in Abuja on Sunday said that the publication provided an overview of NNPC’s operations from January to August 2015.

RAF helicopter crash: Five Nato staff die in Afghanistan

Five people, including two RAF personnel, have been killed in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan.


The Puma Mk2 helicopter crashed as it was landing at Nato's Resolute Support mission headquarters, Kabul. Nato has not released the nationalities of the other victims or the five left injured.

A Ministry of Defence spokesman said the crash was "an accident and not the result of insurgent activity".
The families of the British victims have been informed, the MoD said.

Alison-Madueke appointed presidentGECF

Doha, (Qatar) – The Nigerian Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Deziani Allison- Madueke, has been appointed President of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) by the body at its 16th Ministerial Meeting on Tuesday in Doha, Qatar. The Chairman of the meeting, Minister of Energy and Industry of Qatar, Dr Mohammed Saleh Alsada, announced this in a communiqué read at the end of the meeting. Alsada, who said the meeting also appointed Minister of Oil and Gas, the State of Libya as Alternate President, added that the 17th GECF would be held in Nigeria in 2015.
